So, i have tried the granola which we usually get from the store and being a dietitian and always conscious about health, sugar and fats, i realized that it would be great if i can have homemade granola. I started to research for the perfect recipe, which is easy to make as i cannot spend so much time in kitchen. I found many recipes but some of them suggested baking, other suggested using few ingredients which either were not available or not healthy.

Then after a little bit of R&D, i mix up 2-3 recipes to make my own version of homemade granola, which is healthy and tasty. On top of that, the best thing about this recipe is that it is very easy to make.

I am so excited to share this with you. I am sure, you will like it too. You will find it little sweet as well as little salty as it is a beautiful amalgamation of both flavors. All the ingredients which i have used here are whole and natural, which truly give it a unique flavor. The good news here is you can vary the recipe each time as you can change the dried fruits, nuts and seeds you use in it.

So, lets walk through the steps one by one.

Recipe:

Ingredients:

Rolled Oats: 2 cups

Almonds: 1/2 cup

Cashews: 1/2 cup

Walnuts: 1/2 cup

Raisins: 1/2 cup

Sunflower Seeds: 1/4 cup

Sesame Seeds: 1/4 cup

Dates: 1 cup

Shredded Coconut: 1 cup

Tahini: 1/4 cup

Dried Raspberries: 1/4 cup

Ghee/Coconut Oil: 1 tbsp

Salt: to taste

Method:

1. First of all, collect all your ingredients.

2. Chop the nuts roughly.

3. Make a paste of tahini and dates in a food processor by adding little bit of water.

4. Put 1 tbsp of ghee/coconut oil in a skillet and add all the ingredients except dried raspberries. Roast it until all the ingredients are golden brown. It took me approximately 15 mins.

5. Let it get cool to room temperature.

6. Add dried raspberries when the mixture is completely cooled.

7. Mix Well and store it in an air-tight container. Enjoy it in smoothies, parfait, as a cereal in milk or eat it as it is, as a snack.

Notes:

~ You can also bake it instead of roasting it. Just put the mixture in a pre-heated oven for about 30 minutes at 150 C. Keep on stirring it in between to avoid it from burning and to make sure that the granola is cooking evenly.

~ If you have dry dates, you can soak them in warm water for about 15-20 minutes before making the paste.

~ Tahini is sesame seeds paste. You can make your own by blending it in a food processor. If needed, add a little water.

~ Store it in an air-tight container and it can last up to 15 days on the counter.
