How to Increase your Water Intake

We all know that having ample amount of water is utmost important for out health. However, most of us fails to meet the daily requirement of water. Let's know few simple tips with which you can maintain the optimum level of hydration in your body.

Our body is 60% of water and needs water almost all of its activities. So, it is very vital to replenish this amazing liquid daily. Depending upon your age, physical activity and the climate you live in, your water requirement varies. However, on an average one healthy person needs approximately 3-4 liters of water daily.

“Remember, i am not talking about various other liquids like tea, coffee, juices etc. It should be just plain water.”

I have put 10 simple tips below, which will help you to increase your water intake.

  • Make it a habit to have water first thing in the morning.

Have a glass of water as soon as you wake up in the morning. It will ensure that you have started well on your day. On top of that, having water on an empty stomach has extra benefits. So, one should avail those benefits too.

  • Keep a water bottle with you and refill it every time.

It is best to have a water bottle of one liter capacity with you and refill it every time you finish it. That ways, you can keep a track of your total water intake at the end of the day.

  • Take your water bottle with you everywhere.

Having your water bottle nearby will make it easy for you to grab it. Believe me, sometimes we avoid to have water, if we have to go to the refrigerator to get it. It has happened with me and i am sure, a lot of you have experienced that too.

  • Keep the water bottle on your desk.

Now, this point also has the same motto. We all spend a huge time working and having the water bottle on the desk, where you work will remind you to have it. Problem solved!!

  • Make sure to have water every time you use restroom.

Have a glass of water every time you use the loo. You have expelled water from your body, its time to replenish it. Right?

  • Flavor it.

Although water is tasteless, but whenever i suggest people to have ample water, they complain about its taste. If you too have the same issue, you can always flavor your water. Use various fruits and herbs to enhance the flavor. Put slices of lemon, lime, orange, strawberries etc in the jug of water and keep that overnight for the flavors to get mixed.

  • Have water before every meal.

Sip water 30 mins before every meal. It will ensure that you are having water at regular intervals. And here is a bonus tip for you: Sometimes our brain gets confused whether we are hungry or dehydrated. So, whenever you crave for any food, have a glass of water first. Chances are that you are dehydrated. That ways, not only you will have water but also save few calories.

  • Track your water intake.

These days you will find so many apps to track your daily water intake. Tracking water intake will let you know that how much are you deficit of your daily goal. So, keep a record of your water intake through and app or you can also pen it down in a notepad or diary.

  • Set an alarm.

If you are a person who likes to have notifications on his phone, set an alarm for the water intake. Every hour, the alarm will make you realize that you need to have water.

  • Purchase a cute water bottle.

Actually, a lot of us including me gets excited when we have a new thing. The people who gets motivated by having cute things and want to use them, you can purchase new water bottles and start using them. Carry your cute, new water bottle with you and feel happy by using it. Sip water through it regularly.
