Do People Really want to be Healthy?

I had been to somewhere yesterday and people were talking about healthy life, healthy food, etc. I heard them and their thoughts have really upset me.

Whenever someone comes to me for a weight loss or healthy eating or to start a healthy lifestyle, I guide them with the healthy options available and tell them why the food they are eating is not good. I explain them every point and reality behind those foods in a way which an average person can understand. I give them good reasons to avoid those foods, whether its being the chemicals or added preservatives. In short, I try my best to explain them with good reasons that why should they avoid certain foods and include certain foods. However, it really hurts me when I heard that people do not want to believe on those facts just because those foods are their favorite foods. I think that being a dietitian, it is my duty to explain the facts to the people who come to me to start a healthy life and then these people do not want to follow that guidance, just because they don't want to avoid those particular foods. On top of that, they eat those foods and when asked the reason their simple answer is, so what if I had that food? It won't do any harm if eaten once, as if they don't care.

This leaves me thinking that do they really want to get healthy? Do they really want to start a healthy lifestyle, the one sole reason for which they had come to me. Do they really have that reason as their goal? If not, then why had they made this decision? Or they just want a mental satisfaction that we are following a dietitian, and we are on our way to a healthy life, whereas, they are actually not.

These questions remain unanswered to me forever because when i directly ask them about it their answer is that this is why we have come to you. But, are they? Really?

So, this is my appeal to all those people out there, who love their body, who respect their body and want to live a healthy life, please follow and respect what a person, whom you have come to take guidance, is telling you. I can really understand that people do cheat and that is completely fine. No one should restrict himself from the tempting foods. We all have that weakness, and we should eat everything, taking care of our health side by side. However, trusting the person who is guiding you is also important.

It is not like that every other person has that set of mind. I have some wonderful clients who listens to me carefully and have lots of queries and i really appreciate that and I respect their prospect towards health and starting a healthy life. And believe me it really gives me mental peace to help them. I feel that I am doing what I am supposed to do. So, many thanks and appreciation to all of my wonderful partners who have associated with me in their health journey.

Be happy and stay healthy!!
